Hello Ms. …  The County has no plans to limit traffic on Summit Road.  The only time that traffic would be limited would be due to road damage.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Santa Clara County Roads and Airports Department

Dear Director,

I am a member of the worship community at the temple on Summit Road up above Mount Madonna Park and am concerned about any County actions that might limit traffic and thus restrict attendance at the temple.

Would the County of Santa Clara limit traffic on Summit Road, with the exception of short-term or emergency road closures or lane restrictions?

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you--

      Mary Jeanne …

Good morning, Jerry,

In addition to the conditions stated in the use permits, might there be things in the EIR that the County would take as applicable conditions to limit day visitor use of trails and gardens, or attendance at outdoor religious services?

Should I come in and request the EIR and review that with County staff, in order to understand all the conditions that might apply to such use?

            Thank you,

            Mary Jeanne …

Hi, Mary Jeanne –

Thanks for your inquiry.  The terms, “population density” or “maximum density of permanent and temporary residency” refer to permanent residences and  temporary occupancy beds; the terms do not refer to day visitors or such activities as use of trails or gardens.

Thank you,

Jerry Busch

Subject: Follow-up question regarding permit research

Hello Jerry,

I spent a couple of hours yesterday in the Records and Planning offices and that time was very productive, in great part due to the knowledgeable assistance of you and Liz and Joe. Thank you!

I have a follow-up question for you regarding APN: 106-231-21, -22, -23. I am attaching scans of use permits and other documents from my research.

The documents refer to “population density” or “maximum density of permanent and temporary residency.”

I want to know if those numbers (max of 26 dwelling units) apply to uses which are clearly not dwelling occupancy, such as hiking on the trails, walking around the sculpture garden or attendance at an outdoor religious service.

Please refer my question to the Planning Director /Zoning Administrator, if that would be more appropriate.

Thanks so much for your assistance--

Mary Jeanne
